In accordance with 45 C.F.R. § 98.14(c), the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is hereby giving notice that it will hold public hearings on the Commonwealth’s proposed plan for the provision of early education and care services funded by the federal Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF). The plan describes EEC’s proposal to ensure compliance with the challenges and opportunities created by the Reauthorization of the block grant in November 2014. Public hearings on the CCDF Plan will be held in the EEC regional offices, as follows:
- Springfield, MA – January 5, 2016 at the EEC Western MA Regional Office located at 1441 Main Street, Suite 230 in Springfield, MA from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Boston, MA – January 6, 2016 at the EEC Central Office located at 51 Sleeper Street, 4th Floor from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Worcester, MA - January 13, 2016 at the EEC Central MA Regional Office located at 10 Austin Street from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Individuals wishing to provide public comment on the CCDF Plan are requested to provide a written copy of their oral testimony to EEC either prior to testifying or at the time of their presentation. Directions to EEC’s offices are available on EEC’s website.
Board approval of the final CCDF Plan will be an agenda item for the February 9, 2016 Board Meeting. The Board makes up to 30 minutes available for persons in the audience to address specific agenda items. In order to hear as many speakers as possible, the Board limits individuals to 3 minutes, although written material of any length can be submitted. The Board asks associations or groups to select only one speaker to represent the organization. Those wishing to speak should indicate their intent by filling out the sign-in sheet that will be available during the half-hour prior to the start of the meeting.
