I saw, somewhere, that someone had purchased foam pumpkins and made a pumpkin patch out of them. They put letters on the pumpkins and then had the child(ren) jump from pumpkin to pumpkin. I decided to try this and it was a huge hit!
I made my daughters name, my sons name and our last name. I put the letters on the floor and say what they are as I put them down. Then I call out a letter and my daughter jumps from one letter to the next, spelling her name. It works as we clean up too, I'll call out the letter and she picks it up or she calls out a letter and I pick it up. A fun active and seasonal way to incorporate name recognition, phonics and letters into our day.
