Coping with Holiday Stress

Child care providers aren't immune to stress this time of year. After all, you have to juggle work with family like everyone else – and depending on your holiday schedule and payment policy, your income could suffer when parents keep their children home for a week or two at a time. Below are a few tips to help you cope with the stress:

·         Simplify – If holding a big party drains you emotionally or financially, go back to basics or scrap the party all together.

·         Take care of yourself – Exercise, eat healthy foods, and plan some down time.

·         Ask for and accept help – Ask your families to chip in.

·         Plan low-stress activities – Who says holiday activities need to be elaborate? Instead of an elaborate pageant, take the kids caroling in the neighborhood or make paper snowflakes.
