Free and Cool Photo Editing with PicMonkey

When you have a website, photos are oftentimes one of the most difficult parts of creating your website or adding to it.  Stock photos are generic, boring and expensive and you don't want to risk copyright infringement on other free photos you may find.  Or, you have photos of your own you want to use but you want to put the name of your business on it or modify it in some other way.  Well, PicMonkey is the answer for you!

Oh!  And those pesky facebook cover photos!  It's so hard to create the right size photo, right?  Well, never fear, PicMonkey is the answer for you there too!

Did I say it's FREE?

Step 1:  Go to PicMonkey

Step 2:  Choose what you want to do: Edit a photo, Create a collage or Design which is creating a brand new photo.  With both create a collage and design you have options for a Facebook Cover Photo.

Step 3: Upload the photos you want to use.  The can be clipart, photos of your business, previously used stock photos that you want to reuse etc.

Step 4: Play.  Try all of the different options they have!  You can add borders, balloons, mustaches, cute flowers or bugs, check marks, your logo.  You can add different filters (like on instagram) and so so much more!  It is quite fun.  You won't mess anything up so don't be afraid to try anything.

If you would like specific examples of how to do something in particular, leave a comment below and I will write my next post and even do an instructional video to show you!

Samantha Marshall, M.A.

Samantha is, just like you, excited to make a difference in our community and our world. With a Master of Arts degree in English Literature, you might ask how she found herself building and writing for a website focused on child care. From 1995 through 2001, Samantha started her career working for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsors which introduced her to the importance of non-profits, community and quality child care. Her experience with Sponsors, State Officials, and Family Child Care Providers left a great and lasting impression. Later in her career and her most recent position at SAGE Publications, an academic publisher, was as a product manager for a new online resource! During this time many of Samantha's passions collided. A love for the written word, children and the proliferation of knowledge as well as a fascination with the resources the internet gives us, building a community for child care on ChildCareInfo.com is the perfect way to make the difference she wanted to. Needless to say, she is very excited to be an active part of creating and building ChildCareInfo.com.
