A Little About What to Expect at the CCFP Conference, 2011:
The Child Care Food Program Roundtable’s 20th Annual CACFP Conference, “CACFP MAGIC: Pledge the Practice, Pass the Policy,” is October 17-19 in Anaheim. Since 1992, the CCFP Roundtable has sponsored a highly successful fall CACFP conference which attracts 350-400 participants from California and throughout the country. One of the premiere event of its kind, the Roundtable’s Annual CACFP Conference provides training in several areas including: nutrition, health & wellness, childhood obesity prevention, as well as CACFP program issues. It is known for its top level speakers and workshop presenters who provide cutting-edge information, training and policy/advocacy updates.

So far this year we have commitments from Kate Dupont Phillips, MPH, from Nemours; Patty Kimbrell, MEd, a consultant working with “I Am Moving, I Am Learning” for Head Start; Michele Buran, MA, from CSU Chico Center for Nutrition & Activity Promotion; Jennifer June Balogh, MPH, MSW, from Healthy & Active Before 5. We are still working on a presenter for Let’s Move Child Care.

In the past we have presented speakers such as: Connie Evers, MS, RD, nationally recognized nutrition education consultant, author and frequent guest on radio and television programs; Ellyn Satter, nationally recognized author and lecturer; Dr. Antronette Yancey, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services at UCLA School of Public Health; Dr. Harold Goldstein, Director of the California Center for Public Health Advocacy; Dayle Hayes, an award-winning author, educator and pioneer dietitian in electronic nutrition communications; Drs. Laurel Branen and Janice Fletcher from the University of Idaho School of Family and Consumer Sciences and Dr. Susan Johnson, Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center; Barbara Storper, director and founder of FOODPLAY Productions, an Emmy Award-winning nutrition and health theater and video company; Dr. Lorrene Ritchie, Director of Research at the U.C Berkeley Center for Weight and Health; and Dr. Shannon Whaley, Director of Research and Evaluation at Public Health Foundation Enterprises WIC.
