Hi Tom: Here is a question from Terri that was posted on the network.
Do you have any guidance for her?
"is this where i can ask question? if so i have mom & dad divorced. Dad has live-in girlfriend and mom does not. I am having them both refill out a admissions form. My question is "should i have each of the parents sign the others slip so everyone knows who is able to pickup..or do i leave it alone."

My answer depends on knowing more about your situation. If both parents are contracted with you to pick up the child on certain days (Mom has M-W and dad has T-F), then you can handle it in one of several ways. I would recommend that you allow each parent to decide who they will authorize to pick up on the days they are responsible for. This seems fair. I wouldn't share this information with the parents. Let the parents talk to each other if they want to know. You should not be put in the middle. You could insist that both parents need to agree to whomever is picking up on all days, but I don't think this is productive if the parents aren't talking to each other.
